As you may have noticed, most of my works are created with a sometimes very pronounced textured relief effect! This desire came because I wanted to give body to my works and at the same time create original decorative effects.
Contemporary abstract works of art are not lacking in color and beauty. They are rich in shapes and creativity, but they can sometimes give the impression of lack of thickness, appear a little "flat". So why not give them relief? to give them extra beauty.
There are so many possibilities to create thicknesses on your canvases that it would be impossible to list them all here! it is the creative spirit of each individual that can bring originality and novelty to a work. I am often surprised when I look at the works of other artists, to see what they have managed to come up with as original ideas that I would never have thought of.When you walk around, you will find that there are multiple small objects that could easily fit on your canvases. Lately while going to the beach I was simply looking for what could perfect my future work! and finally I recovered some shell sediment, some sand and some whole shells. And when I got home and started painting I discovered that shell sediments are just fabulous on paintings! Besides, I can't wait to go back to the beach to swim and sunbathe of course; D but also to recover its precious little sediments. The sand also creates very beautiful reliefs when it is well worked.
In nature you will find all kinds of little things;
wood that can make pretty washers for an abstract painting,
small pebbles,
foliage that will serve as a stencil by placing them on your paintings,
bark to create landscape backgrounds,
wood chips,
branching
sand
pebbles
seashell
.... And I'm sure that by going for a walk you will find many other things to put on your canvases! Clearly, nature offers us many possibilities. You just have to know how to search.Otherwise, there are also all the small everyday objects that can be stuck on canvases of the type;- little jewels that are no longer used and that will have a radiant second life on a
canvas,- crushed glass,- rhinestones,- feathers,- fabric,- Pictures,- buttons,- … .You can also work with a paste called modeling paste. It will allow you to work with canvas backgrounds, giving them a textured effect. It can add a lot of character and depth to your work. For example, create waves to represent the sea, or clouds, mountains etc... You can mix the modeling paste with the paint directly in order to have the desired color immediately. On some of my videos (and many more to come) you can see me working on different materials to create effects if that helps. For my part, on my canvases I mainly use site coatings (smoothing coating for example) the resistance is just exceptional and the product does not "fall" back.There is also 3d relief paint already ready to use in stores selling creative products from all brands, Pébéo, leFranc Bourgeois, Monali etc...

So you will find that it is quite easy to find objects to make reliefs. You just have to let your inspiration work and try to train to get fabulous results. Do not hesitate to use several different textures on the same canvas for even more rendering.
